Andrew was born in Alderley Edge, Cheshire and raised in Wilmslow. With a strong family background in the hotel and hospitality business, it was no surprise that after graduating from Manchester University, he launched his career in the world of hotel management. He later joined the Central Office Team of world famous De Vere Hotels as a Business Change Senior Executive and was proud to be appointed the operational project manager for the Ryder Cup held at The Belfry Hotel & Golf Centre in 2001. His lifelong passion with boating led him to join Challenger Syndicateships in 2004 and to then set up BCBM in January 2008. Andrew's business, organizational and people skills gained in the leisure and hospitality trade have enabled him to grow BCBM into the market leader in shared ownership, now managing boats for 48 syndicates. His pledge is to always ensure that BCBM steadfastly cares for your investment along with complete financial transparency.
Dee is the daughter of Andrew and Ann Barton. She has been an avid boater since being little and first took to the canals in 1994. As a family we only every holidayed on the canals on NB Arthur. Dee has always enjoyed the waterways and loves get to on board the boat, so much so she has a share in one of our BCBM boats. Dee has many interests including arts & Crafts, Geocaching and going out on her Motorbike. Dee can almost always be seen at BCBM events or in the Audlem office.
Born and bred in Norfolk, Trevor Curson joined Richardson's Pleasurecraft as an apprentice Marine Engineer, going on to work for May Gurney all over the Broads as a Marine Engineer and Plant Fitter for the next 16 years. In 1992, he went into partnership running a successful building business employing 11 people at one point. Now semi-retired, he joined us last year and his knowledge and experience is proving invaluable! Trevor and his wife Jill will be celebrating 38 years of marriage in July and are kept busy with their two dogs – a 9 year old Labrador and 18 month old Border Collie.
Ann Barton has spent her working lifetime at the 'coalface' of the retail and hospitality industry. Experienced in customer-facing roles, she is well positioned to look after the reception and switchboard at the main Nantwich office of BCBM. Married to Andrew for 27 years, Ann is also a keen boating enthusiast, and enjoys 'Boat Testing' each new addition to the fleet with Andrew as they are introduced at Nantwich. Ann is a key member of the staff at shows and exhibitions also where she looks after the new boats on display. A valued member of the team who keeps Andrew on the straight and narrow!
Tracey's family have always been into narrow boats with her dad having built several boats one of these was even from scratch! Tracey also grew up around the canals. Now Tracey works in the Audlem office and with her knowledge of the canals is a great complement to the BCBM team.
Northamptonshire born and bred, Phil has a great deal of knowledge of the canals in this area. His working life is spent in heavy engineering as a programmer/operator of CNC machines, and his interests include DIY, wood turning and golf. After a holiday on a hire boat some years ago, Phil and his wife Jane bought a share in the Valkyrie Syndicate. You might also see Phil out and about as a volunteer lock-keeper for the Canal and River Trust.
Mark is a retired Chartered Engineer having worked at Rolls-Royce Plc in Derby for 35 years, starting with the Company as a Craft Apprentice in 1978. Both Mark and wife Jill are keen narrow boaters, having previously held a shared ownership in Benbow, Cropredy and Phoenix, along with having owned their narrowboat for 7 years. They now hold a shared ownership in Dawn Treader. Mark has extensively cruised the Trent and Mersey, Coventry, Oxford, Leicester Arm of the Grand Union, Shropshire Union and Staffs & Worcester canals, along with River Soar and the River Trent to Nottingham. Away from boating Mark is a volunteer Station Master at Rothley Station on the Great Central Steam Railway in Leicestershire.
Academically qualified as Technician Engineer, (B-tech, mechanical and production engineer) and has worked with narrowboats for the last 7 years which was predominantly syndicate boats. Allister enjoys working for the benefit of others, is friendly and a man of Faith. He is very practical having been a project manager for 11 years. Allister is married to Fran who has her own business working in the 'Franchise' industry, he has a 23 year old son named Oliver who lives in Bristol. His hobbies involve crossword puzzles and getting outdoors.
